The Bottlenose Dolphin
The Bottlenose Dolphin’s scientific name is Turiops truncatus and it lives everywhere except for freezing water! The domain is Eukarya, the kingdom is Animalia, the phylum is Chordata, the class is Mammalia, the order is Cetacea, the family is Delphinidae, the genus is Tursiops, and the species is truncatus. The description is that the dolphin has gray skin, a pointed nose, a long tongue in the inside of the mouth, has three fins. On the back and the sides. Some of there ways to keep them alive is that they make high pitched noise to call others, they have good hearing to know what is happening around them, the sound waves go through its lower jaw to its ears then to the brain, how cool! The Bottlenose Dolphin is about 1,100 lbs, it can be slower than a car, their length is about 10-14 feet, and they are Heterotrophic. Heterotrophic means that someone eats plants and other animals.They eat fish, squid, shrimp, and other crustaceans. Crustacean means lobster, crab, shrimp, or barnicle.
