The nurse shark is a stout animal with scattered spots around its body. It ranges from the Eastern Pacific to the Indian Ccean. Its domain is Eukarya. The nurse shark’s kingdom is Animalia, Its phylum is Chordata. Its class is Chondrichthyes, Its order is Orectolobiformes, The nurse shark’s family is Ginglymostomatidae. Its genus is Ginglymostoma, Its species is cirratum. Its scientific name is Ginglymostoma cirratum. The nurse shark is bilateral which means if you cut a line down the middle of it, and folded it together… this organism would match up evenly. This organism is also endothermic. Three adaptations of the nurse shark is it has a lateral line which helps it detect movement in the water, This is called a structural adaptation. Another structural adaptation of the nurse shark is it has a torpedo shaped body so it can slice though the water. One last structural adaptation of the nurse shark is this organism moves less than a mile a day to save energy when needed. A fun fact about the nurse shark is it can live up to twenty-five years!
