Habitat-Can generally be found in shallow water, over sandy or muddy bottoms.
The horseshoe crab has bilateral symmetry, is heterotrophic, and is ecothermic. The horseshoe crab is a black to a dark brownish color and have hard shells. They use their bristle bases to chew food and then send the food back to their mouths. They generally walk along the bottom of shallow water and will swim on their backs using their gills as paddles. A little known fact about the horseshoe crab is that they have been around longer than the dinosaurs. They feed at night on worms, small molluscs, and algae. Their predators are birds and ocean animals.
