Eastern Oyster

This organism is a Eastern Oyster also known by its scientific name Crassostrea virginica. You can find this organism along the eastern coast of North and South america, near any kind of low surface. The domain is Eukaryote, the kingdom is Animala, the phylum is mollusks, the class is Bivalvia, the order is ostreoidea, the family is Ostreidea, the genus is crassostrea, and the species is Crassostrea  virginica. This organism looks like a shell but has sharp edges and is in all sorts of different shapes. This organism filters water for food and it helps the water. (functional) This organism provides habitat for other animals. (functional) This organism also prevents erosion. (functional) A eastern oyster has bilateral symmetry, which means they can be divided into two parts that are mirror images of each other. This animal is a heterotroph (eats mostly everything and also other heterotrophs) and also is endothermic(warmblooded). This organism doesn't really have prey but when it filters water that provides it food. The prey of this organism is humans. A fun fact about this organism is that When humans eat them it gives you copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc.
