spotted sandpiper

Spotted sandpiper
(Actitis macularius)
Sandpipers are usually around sea area. Their Domain is Eukarya and their Kingdom is Animalia. Their Phylum is Chordata and their Class is Aves. Their Order is Charadriiformes and their Family is Scolopacidae. The sandpiper's Genus is Actitis and their Species is Actitis macularius. They have bilateral symmetry. A behavioral adaptation is that the male raises the young. This helps them survive because the female goes to mate with other males to make the generation bigger and better. Another behavioral adaptation is during breeding season, males and females defend territory independently. this helps the animal survive because it has more territory for their young to live. another structural adaptation is their bones. their bones are hollow so they can stay in the air, flying.
