The Snowy Egret
The Snowy Egret’s scientific name is Egretta thula. Where it lives/region is shallow water of the Southern U.S.A and salt marsh pools and shallow bays. The domain is Eukarya, the kingdom is Animalia, the phylum is Chordata, the class is Aves, the order is Ciconiiformers, the family is Ardeae, the genus is Egretta, and the species is thula. Some of their characteristics is that is has black legs, a thin black bill, bright yellow feet, a long neck, and the size of it is medium. Their three adaptations,behavioral, or functionals is it makes quick movement to catch its prey, the males use high pitched voices to attract females, and last of all is that the male points his head to the sky to mate. Interesting facts is the females lay three to six eggs, breeding starts until March and early April, most of the Snowy Egrets lives up to two to seventeen. - One record showed that a Snowy Egret lived up to twenty two years, that is a long time! What they can eat is some frogs, fish, lizards, and mice but did you know that Snowy Egrets are heterotrophic. Well now you know!
