Purple Spined Sea Urchin

The purple spined sea urchin is a circular organism with small, pointy spine all around it's body. The purple spined sea urchin belongs to a domain kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. Its domain is Eukarya, its kingdom is Animalia, its phylum is Echinodermata, its class is Echinoidea, its order is Arbacioda, its family is Arbaciidae, its genus is Arbaci and its species is purctulata. You can find the sea urchin on rocks and shells in deep salt water, from Maine to Cuba and Florida to Texas. An interesting fact about the purple spined sea urchin is that they can live all the way up to 200 years old, that is very old. The purple spined sea urchin has radial symmetry, that means how ever you were to fold up the organism it matches up. The sea urchin has many adaptations that are very interesting. One adaptation is that the sea urchin is nocturnal, that means it stays up all through the night. That is a behavioral adaptation. Another adaptation it has are the small spines all around its body. The spines help it from getting eaten by other predators’. That is a structural adaptation. The third adaptation is also about that spines. The spines can get small food and animals caught in the spines, by doing that it makes it easier to eat the organism. That is also a structural adaptation. The purple spined sea urchin is a heterotrophic organism. That means it gets its energy by eating other autotrophs and heterotrophs. The Purple Spined Sea Urchin is an ectothermic organism that means it is cold blooded.
