North American Octopus
Enteroctopus doflicmi

The North American Octopus is a beautiful red creature that can change colors to blend in with it’s surroundings, this is called camouflage. Believe it or not, this organism has a dorsal fin! It’s scientific name is Enteroctopus doflicmi. Its domain is Eukarya, kingdom Animalia, phylum Mollusca, class is Cephalopoda, order is Octopoda, family is Octopodidae, genus is enteroctopus, and species doflicmi. Two behavioral adaptations of this organism are that it is not aggressive toward humans, also it rarely comes out of it’s den, storing the food that it’s caught for weeks. A structural adaptation is that the North American Octopus has 280 suckers to help grab onto things. This Octopus only has one predator... us! It eats clams, crabs, fish, and other octopi! This octopus has bilateral symmetry. The North American Octopus lives from the United States of America to North Japan. A fun fact about this organism is that it fights off other octopi with it tentacles. The animal is ectothermic!
