Bottlenose Dolphin Facts

They have bilateral symmetry, are endothermic, and are heterotrophic. Have a tall and a curved dorsal fin. There's black to a light gray on their sides. Their bellies are white to a light pink. They use their mouths to make clicking sounds which is the process of them using echolocation. They also use their fluke to push themselves out of the water to look at their surroundings. They will follow seabirds or fishing boats to find fish that they scare up or discard. Bottlenose dolphins have been known to dive deep enough to go 4.5 minutes without coming up for air. They typically feed on fish and invertebrates on the shoreline, while deep water bottlenose dolphins eat squid and pelagic fish. Their predators are orca whales, sharks, and humans.
